Brannon Mcmorris is an accomplished Engineer, and a problem solver at heart. He's led large successful projects and engineering teams at Hewlett Packard and Intel, and small companies as an engineering consultant. Doing so has made him an expert in turning difficult challenges into efficient working systems.
Although he had never considered a career in government, Brannon McMorris has come to realize one thing. If ordinary people don't step up to run for political office, we will never see real change and reform. The two-party system needs a wake-up call. For too long, the Democrats and Republicans have played party politics while allowing un-Constitutional abuses such as NSA surveillance, the ACA, and the War on Drugs.
Brannon is running because he wants his two boys to know: in the United States, you stand up for your rights. Good citizenship means providing a better future for the next generation. He wants to demonstrate to his boys that success, integrity, and responsibility are more than words.
Brannon and his wife, Laura, are prepared to run a grassroots campaign despite the challenges. Nothing precious in life comes easy. Liberty, this nation’s most sacred gift, for which our nation has sacrificed countless lives, must be preserved at all costs.
Cast your vote for Brannon McMorris on November 4th, 2014. Please join Brannon as we fight for Freedom and Liberty. Let's get our country back to following the Constitution!
The Declaration of Independence
– “Prudence , indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not change for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience has shown, that mankind is more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.—“
The Republicans and Democrats have mismanaged our government and betrayed the interest of the people for far too long. They’ve turned “wedge issues” into talking points for each election cycle, while ignoring the major problems facing this country. They divide us by appealing to our emotions and making enough noise to drown out those who try to point out the facts. The people cannot continue to tolerate an ineffective and abusive two party system; it is destroying this great nation. It is time to vote in the new Guards!
Our nation is deeply divided.
We all share a common frustration with Washington. We feel powerless to stop the power grabs of the political elite, yet we keep sending career politicians back to Washington. Liberty is slipping away. The dire condition of this nation is a direct result of people voting for the lesser of two evils, decade after decade. We are misled by a two party system that is vested in dividing the People. Our children deserve better.
We suffer from out of control spending, crippling regulation, and massive currency inflation. Even though we are already over-taxed, our nation is still running up unfathomable debt on future generations. The NSA’s spying on American civilians is a total disregard for our 4th Amendment rights. Gun control is a direct attack on our 2nd Amendment rights. The imprisonment of journalists violates freedom of speech and freedom of the press. The two parties running the federal government have no regard for our Constitution and no longer represent the American people.
We are the solution.
The solution starts in our families and neighborhoods and expands into our communities, cities, parishes, and our state. There is no “one size fits all” federal program or bureaucracy that is going to promote real positive change or progress. I will work to reduce the size and scope of the federal government, and to preserve our American heritage, which is life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. As the Declaration of Independence states, these are unalienable rights that are endowed to us by our creator.
We are a nation of good and charitable people who value freedom and protect civil liberties. When our elected representatives give away our freedoms, they surrender our sovereignty over our own lives. We must guard our liberty, because, once freedom is gone, it is gone forever. Benjamin Franklin once wrote “Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.”
The Call To Action
Our Constitution outlines the power for us to elect representatives of all the people. I have never run for office in the past or aspired to making a career in politics. However, I cannot sit idle watching the two party system forfeit more and more of our liberties.
Let’s stop electing career politicians who represent special interests and elect regular citizens to represent us. My children, your children, and all children in our great nation deserve to have the same opportunities and freedoms passed onto us by our parents. I want my grandchildren to share my love for this country and enjoy what it means to be free.
The status quo in Washington has mounted a direct assault on our country and our liberty. All this while each day average people go about their daily routine - going to work, feeding their children, helping with homework, and preparing for the next day. Our citizens have fallen asleep, become distracted, and have lost control over our government.
I’m running for U.S. Senate, as part of a grassroots liberty movement, because “We the People” are the solution. If we want a better future, we must all be willing to stand up, contribute, and lead the way: I’m willing to do this Let’s get involved in our neighborhoods, communities, and elections.
We are organizing at the state and local level to take our Country back, and we will be lawful public servants and follow the Constitution. Let’s end our dependence on government solutions which surrenders our personal freedoms and liberties.
Unlike Democrats and Republicans, who strive for personal gain within the corrupt two-party system, I am not afraid to take a principled stance on the difficult challenges we face. I am an average citizen, and am ready to confront the establishment to represent the people of Louisiana. I will fight to reduce government taxing and spending, and to protect our Constitutional rights. If elected to be your Senator, I will go to Washington as the steward of the power entrusted to me by the people, and work to preserve the liberty of all the people of Louisiana. Please cast your vote for Brannon McMorris.
represents the interests of the
people they are elected by.
Reducing Debt and Spending
Government Debt is a direct assault on our Liberty. The US national debt is over 17 trillion dollars, $150,000 per taxpayer. The US has upwards of 127 trillion in unfunded liabilities, 1.1 million per taxpayer. This is unsustainable.
Tax Reform, raising taxes and printing more money are not effective long term solutions. We must make drastic reductions in spending.
As your Senator, I will vote against increases in spending, as well as draft legislation that cuts as much unnecessary spending as possible. I will fight to help stop the out of control spending in Washington, and get us back on track to reducing our debt.
Ending Corporate Welfare
Americans do not elect representatives to pick winners and losers in the market place. If a business is profitable and effective, the market will sustain it, simple as that.
NO BUSINESS IS TOO BIG TO FAIL!
I am sick and tired of “crony capitalism”. As your Senator, I will work for the interests of the people, not the interests of big business.
100 years of the IRS is enough! The recent targeting of conservative political groups targeted by the IRS shows that no government agency is free from corruption.
The Tax Code is too complex. At over 70,000 pages, the complex tax codes allow people with resources to manipulate their returns, leaving average citizens holding the bag.
As your Senator, I will vote against any additions to the tax code. I will support and propose legislation that will reform the tax code. I will begin an effort to abolish the IRS and replace it with a simplified tax code, so that all Americans pay their fair share.
Drug Prohibition creates violent criminals, wastes valuable resources in complex investigations and sting operations to incarcerate persons who are non-violent . History repeats itself. Our nation would be well served to remember the lesson alcohol prohibition taught us. The government cannot stop people from making decisions, good or bad.
The United States must repeal the controlled substances act, end the reckless and costly war on drugs, and take comprehensive reform of the FDA.
As Senator, I will support efforts toward decriminalization; as well as, work to introduce FDA reform legislation. The Federal government should not be involved in making decisions for the citizens of the US.
The burden of unneeded regulatory compliance is slowing our crippled economy and standing in the way of innovation. Big business can absorb the high cost of regulatory compliance, where small businesses and startups cannot.
Congress must make regulatory reform a top priority! There must be a constant voice in the Senate for the people to make this a reality. The lifelong politicians do not have this in their interests. Their election campaign funds depend on it!
As your Senator, I will work across party lines to build a coalition of likeminded legislators to pass comprehensive regulatory reform.
Mandatory Sentencing Reform
Mandatory minimum sentences are unfair, and outmoded. By grouping all offenders into inflexible categorizations, they restrict judges from using their own discretion. The Justice Department spends over 6 Billion Dollars a year on prisons, more every year. .
It is vital that we give the power of sentencing back to the judges who have case by case understanding and take it away from grandstanding lawmakers.
When elected, I will support efforts for mandatory sentencing reform, as well as push to research other models to bring our nation’s penal system to the world's forefront.
Internet and Information Privacy
The internet has fundamentally altered our culture with innovation on a magnitude not seen since the industrial revolution. The free exchange of information and commerce the internet has provided is invaluable to us as a nation.
We must not allow innovation to be slowed by regulation that harms private enterprise. The government's role in regulating the internet should be limited to the protection of Americans privacy.
As your Senator, I will vote against any regulations concerning internet freedom, as well as spearhead efforts to stop certain government agencies from spying on our citizens.
Foreign Policy and National Security
Americans I speak to are tired of costly, seemingly pointless wars. They say they are tired of seeing our tax dollars go overseas to countries that have no interest to the American people. Meddling in the Middle East, spying on our allies? We have allowed our leaders to create a heightened fear at home and abroad.
We can no longer afford our constant wars and military adventurism. I favor a strong national defense to protect our nation against foreign invasion, but I strongly oppose unconstitutional wars that undermine our national interests.
As your Senator, I will vote down any increase in military budget. I will be a voice of reason to push back against escalations toward war. I will work with likeminded leaders to reduce military spending to pre-cold war levels.
Immigration has always been vital to the United States. We receive long term benefits both financially and culturally. Our melting pot has forged a populace stronger than any steel.
We must have immigration reform for the long term health of our nation. However, entitlement reform must come first. It is vital that we make the incentive to come here about creating a sustainable life as a US citizen, not reap temporary economic gain illegally.
Our nation was built by immigrants seeking freedom and opportunity. As Senator, I'm willing to support immigration reform, but I will not vote yes on comprehensive immigration reform until comprehensive entitlement reform is passed.
True equality means government getting out of the business of marriage. The government has no business in defining marriage. Marriage is between two people who want to build a stable home and stable life together. Why should government have a say in what two people, same or opposite sex, decide with a spiritual advisor?
We are all facing big problems. We are all facing problems that transcend race, gender, and sexual preference. We all have to work as neighbors but calling our neighbor immoral will keeps us divided. Government restriction on marriage is government restriction on Liberty. If we can't embrace Liberty for all, we indirectly endorse tyranny for all.
As Senator, I will not support any legislation that defines marriage. I will fight to make sure same sex marriages receive equal treatment under the law.
Replace National Guard with State Guard
This is a plank in this platform I have struggled with on a personal level. The federal government will not surrender the power that has been stolen from the people. The only way to secure power for the people at the local and state level is to provide a state defense to keep federal power in check. The federal scope over a state’s defense force should not extend further than that defined in Militia Act of 1903.
I propose the National Guard be handed over to the states. The state regulated militia (state defense forces,) should be provided the same training as the US Army. The state governors should act as commander in chief of the state militia (defense force), unless a Declaration of War is made by Congress, and the state governor hands over command of the state militia to the President. Furthermore, the state militia should recognize and provide training to the volunteers of local militia.
As your Senator, I will fight to ensure that power of the United States military or federal law enforcement is never used against citizens nor is used to violate state sovereignty.
